“The Money Shot”
You all know what I’m talking about…that moment when you’re acting like a stereotypical tourist somewhere new and amazing, and after snapping away you look at your thousands of photos and find that ONE. That Golden Child. That diamond. That photo that looks like it came straight outta your “Travel” Pinterest board. And you say, “DANG that’s good! This one looks like it could be a postcard. Or better yet, I HAVE seen this on a postcard! Seriously, THIS is the money shot.”
…Or maybe that’s just me? Ok, cool, whatever.
I know I act like an annoying tourist sometimes, but I can’t help but have a mini photo shoot when I’m in this amazing place and have such a beautiful subject matter.
Listen, I know some people say to enjoy the moment instead of taking so many photos. And in a way, I agree. I definitely want to be present when I’m in a new city, landmark, or attraction. It bothers me when someone goes on a trip and sees everything through a screen – whether that be a camera, video camera, or their iPhones (to post photos on Instagram). But, at the same time, I want to take photos to have something to remember it by forever. When I’m down, one of my favorite things to do is go through my photos from past travels to reminisce on the great times. And, they look great hung on the wall!
So do both! Take some amazing pictures to remember your times, but make sure to stop and savor the moment and take in the sights, sounds, and even scents of where you are or what you’re doing! Besides, some of the places I’ve traveled are honestly SO beautiful, its like they’re BEGGING me to take a photograph them.
So, here is a compilation of my “money shots” – those postcard-esque shots that happened in some of the world’s most beautiful places and lively cities. I like to consider them my own personal postcards.
