Picturesque Prague // Day 2 Itinerary
Day 1 in Prague consisted of an all-day trek uphill to Prague Castle, while passing through Old Town, over the Charles Bridge, and past tons of beautiful and amazing sights along the way.
Our itinerary for Prague day 2 was just as jam-packed with sights, sounds, and food! In other words, amazin’!
Here is a recap of our second day in Prague, including recommendations and things to do!
Vltava River Cruise
We started off the day with a boat cruise down the Vltava River that runs through Prague. The river offered a unique view of the city. There are several companies in Prague that offer all kinds of different types of river cruises, but we just stuck with the basic (cheapest) one. It may have not come with a fancy schmancy boat dinner BUT it had all we needed – a tour guide, free beer and snacks, and GORGEOUS views.
The boat cruise picked up right at the Charles Bridge. We wanted to miss the line, so we went there first thing in the morning. Even so, we ended up having to wait in line for a bit. Still, it was worth the wait because the boat cruise was really cool. Not only did they take us down the Vltava, but they also brought us down several narrower canals, all while pointing out and explaining historical sights and buildings!
Make sure you add it to your Prague Itinerary, as it was a really fun activity and one of the best things to do in Prague!
Lock Bridge + Lunch
After an amazing ride, the boat dropped us off on the other side of the Charles Bridge, in Lesser Town. So, we headed off to find a lunch spot. We passed some lock bridges and decided to leave our mark. We also found this adorable restaurant tucked away right on the water, it was the cutest thing…
The John Lennon Wall
Next, we wandered around to find the well-known “John Lennon Wall,” a graffiti wall that’s always changing with layers of new paint. Young people come here to spray paint their names, or pictures, on the wall (read more about my experience with the wall here). When we finally found it, we had a mini photo shoot…
We spent a lot of time wandering around Lesser Town, and eventually made our way back over the Charles Bridge and back through Old Town to the area where our apartment was. One thing I noticed about Prague was how many live performers they had on the streets. The amount of street musicians/performers reminded me a lot of New Orleans, and it was so wonderful.
Dinner at Vytopna Restaurant
After resting in our apartment for a bit, we decided to go out for dinner. After all, we had BIG plans that night. We were going to “the 5-story club” that is a huge attraction in Prague.
So, where did we decide to eat? Well, we got a recommendation about decently priced restaurant in Wenceslas Square called Vytopna. Its just your average restaurant except that, OH WAIT, it brings your drinks out to you on toy trains… it features miniature railways that run through the whole restaurant. The trains even pass through tunnels, bridges, fake woods until arriving at your table. So, obviously, we decided to go there…
…Notice my beloved Krusovice. I really liked that beer!
Karlovy lázně
That night, we went to the well-known Karlovy lázně, a 5-story club and the biggest club in central Europe (they claim). Despite being full of tourists, this place was actually really cool. Every floor has a different “vibe” and music genre – the 1st has a huge dance floor with popular music, the 2nd is a “discotheque” dedicated to dance/electronic music, the 3rd floor is devoted to oldies with a kaleidoscope floor, the 4th is hip-hop and R&B and the last floor (if you make it up there) is the “chill out” floor with slower, chill music. Fortunately Unfortunately I don’t have many pictures from the actual club, but I do have several pictures of the ice bar we did upon arriving.
We made it through all 5 floors and had a great time! And we ended the night eating kebabs, of course!
Even though we only had 2 full days in Prague, I think we had a packed itinerary, were able to cover a lot of ground, and saw some of the cities best sights. During our first night there we were able to catch World Cup game, US vs. Germany, at one of the many great little pubs scattered throughout Prague’s Old Town.
