Inside the Notre Dame
Being that I’m a sucker for old churches, I was absolutely awestruck by the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. My favorite thing I did in Paris was see an aerial view of the city from the Notre Dame Towers (read about it here), but when we went back to see the interior of the famous Cathedral, I was definitely not disappointed!
Stepping foot into this church was such a surreal experience. Because I had grown up with “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and I had just always heard about this church, it was one of those “holy crap I can’t believe I’m actually standing here and this is the real (insert name of super famous landmark/monument here)” moments.
The Notre Dame Cathedral is absolutely breathtaking from the outside, and that continues when you walk inside. It has stained glass windows everywhere, which give the inside of the church such a pretty, natural light. Then there are so many lights inside the church too, so it appears to have an actual holy glow.
The Notre Dame is known for its French-Gothic architecture, especially its flying buttresses, rose windows and stained glass, all which you can see from the outside. But the interior is definitely work a look, too! And it’s free to go in, SO WHY NOT? I get really annoyed when you have to pay an entry fee to see the inside of a church (although I usually do end up forking up the cash because I love church interiors so much). So, it’s a nice change when you don’t have to pay to tour inside.
Anyways, this was just a small little post with a few photos for your Friday afternoon! Have a good weekend, people!
