Notting Hill Carnival 2023

So last weekend I went to London for the first time since BEFORE COVID. It’s always been one of my favorite cities, so I don’t know how it’s been so long since I’ve been there. Especially since it’s only a 50 minute to 1 hour flight from Dublin!

It was so nice to be back in one of my favorite cities. It also happened to be a Bank Holiday in the UK and as per usual, there was soooo much going on in London for the weekend. And it worked out that one of the events happening was something that I had heard of and have always wanted to experience for myself: the Notting Hill Carnival!

Summer is arguably one of the best times to visit the UK. Like Ireland, the UK really comes alive in the summer. Not only are the British Isles blessed with beautiful countrysides and delightfully temperate weather in the summer months, they’re also home to some of the best summer events and festivals in the world. The Big Grill Festival

According to Urban Dictionary, the definition of the “meat sweats” is: To consume an obsene amount of meat resulting in profuse sweating.

I swear this is a real thing. It happens to me all the time! And it was especially real last weekend at Dublin’s Big Grill Festival, where I consumed an absurd about of meat. But it’s ok because I also had an absurd amount of fun!!!!!! OK, so that was really cheesy… buy anyways, here is my review of Big Grill Festival 2015!

NOS Alive Music Festival

I’ve mentioned before in a few posts how much I adore Lisbon. I absolutely fell in love with it when I visited last summer and am already dying to go back!

There is SO much to see and do in Lisbon (check out this post) and I could go on and on about recommendations! But when we went, there just so happened to be a major music festival happening. So (OF COURSE) we had to go for a day! So just a few short weeks after having an amazing day at the Isle of Wight music festival in England, our last stop in Lisbon was to see my favorite band (which is the Arctic Monkeys FYI) headline NOS Alive music festival 2014, right outside of Lisbon city centre!

With this year’s NOS Alive having been recently, I’ve been reminiscing on my time there last year!

The Weirdest Weekend of my Life | Body & Soul 2015

Let me start off by saying that if there’s some unspoken rule among bloggers as a limit to how many pictures should go in a post, this will DEFINITELY be going over that limit.

So a coworker of mine had an extra pair of tickets to a music festival she was trying to get rid of, since she was now going for free as a volunteer. She kept asking me if my friend and I wanted to buy them from her. I had never heard of this festival, and only recognized 2 names on the whole lineup.

But I figured “why not?” Who wouldn’t want to spend a weekend outside on the grounds of an Irish castle listening to bands with names like “Goat,” “Savages,” “Nightmares on Wax,” “Shit Robot,” and “Meltybrains?,” (yes the question mark is part of the name)? Basically, we’re in Ireland for a year and want to live it up! Get out of our comfort zone and experience werid/random things! Besides, I LOVE music festivals. I had already been to one foreign music festival (more on that here), and had the BEST time even though it was just 1 day. But I had never camped out at one before. So I figured I should try it out! And so, I found myself at Body & Soul 2015 during the weekend of the summer solstice.

Isle of Wight Festival 2014

If I had a ridiculous amount of money, I think I’d spend all of my time at music festivals. There’s just something so wonderful about spending a gorgeous day/weekend outside listening to great live acts, surrounded by people who are (usually) friendly and have the same interests. When planning my post-grad Europe trip last summer, I knew that I really wanted to attend a foreign music festival. So once we had our dates I started to research music festivals and found Isle of Wight Festival in England. A music festival on an island off the southern coast of England? Um….sign me up please!

Festival International de Louisiane

Summer is upon us people, which means it’s music festival season!

How appropriate that my last weekend in the US before my big move was spent at my favorite event in my hometown – Festival International de Louisiane. I’ve been dying to share with ya’ll about this festival because it really is my favorite thing about where I live!

Every year, it’s weekend filled with family, friends, music, food, and so much happiness. And Festival International de Louisiane 2015 was no different! It was a great way to spend my last weekend before I really cracked down on finishing up packing and cleaning before my big move tomorrow!
